Smart JAMP study
Smart JAMP(2022) Study for the Realization of Smart City in Vientiane, Lao People's Democratic Republic
The purpose of this work is to select the target project and establish implement plan of the target project with the highest needs and feasibility among the three priority projects proposed in the Vientiane Smart City Master Plan created last year (2021).
In addition to grasp needs of the local government in Vientiane, we select the target project through re-evaluate the feasibility of the project from the perspectives of "effectiveness of project implementation," "scalability to other issues," and "profitability that contributes to effective public investment."
The implementation plan to be considered includes the business model, financial scheme, implementation system, etc.
Since cooperation of the local government is essential for the implementation of the project, various meetings will be held to increase opportunities, to participate and to build consensus.
It is expected that the results of this project will lead to the expansion of business into Vientiane by Japanese companies.

Smart JAMP (2021) Master Plan Study for Smart City and Pre-feasibility Study on the Introduction of an Advanced Sewage Treatment System in Luang Prabang, Lao People's Democratic Republic
Luang Prabang City with a population of 100,000 is a tourism destination in Lao PDR, whose central area was registered as UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1995. The city attracts a number of domestic and international tourists, reaching 860,000 in 2019.
While tourism is essential, the city is facing various challenges: an upcoming spike of tourist number due to the opening of the Lao-Chinese high-speed railway, vulnerable operation and maintenance system in the heritage area, unplanned urban developments, lagging ICT adoption, etc. To achieve the sustainable tourism development, this study outlines a big picture of smart city, proposing some priority projects adopting Japanese advanced technologies including implementation schemes.
